The 4th of July is one of my absolute favorite holidays! I love the red, white and blue color scheme everywhere, swimming, BBQ’s, etc. I love the parades and the fireworks shows and the rodeos and street dances.
This past Friday night, Royse City had their annual Freedom Celebration. I have to be honest with you, usually we just hang out in our yard and watch the fireworks from the comfort of our home. But Shenandoah was performing and my husband and I really wanted to go check them out.
We loaded up our lawn chairs, patriotic quilt, picnic basket, playing cards, bug spray and glow sticks and headed that way. After we set up shop, we went straight to the kids area. They had all kinds of fun rides for the kids.
I think our favorite attraction was the face painting though! This guy was so talented and super fast! (He was from Bounce ‘N’ More out of Rockwall)
Knox asked for a skeleton
Ryder asked to be a pirate.
I mean, have you seen a toothless pirate as cute as this?!? Me neither!
Jack Bennett was SpiderMan!
Then we ran into some sweet friends of ours and played a mean game of Go Fish!
We also had to partake in Kona Ice snow cones! (Holla for Tiger’s Blood!!) My favorite part were the cups that changed colors. The boys’ favorite part was the DIY flavor station.
Then the fireworks started right when I was trying to get a picture with the boys! haha! They kept saying “We want to see! We want to see!” I gave up on a decent picture with them and just let them enjoy the show. 🙂
I mean, how cute is this…..K&R just laying with their daddy watching the fireworks. (Jack Bennett was too busy terrorizing people with glow stick swords)
Thank you to the City of Royse City for such a great event! And guess what….all of those kids rides and face painting – they were FREE!! Such a fun event for the family! We can’t wait for next year!
